Why we built NorthBite for smaller communities
Food delivery apps are mostly built for large cities. That shapes everything about them: the number of restaurants they expect in a few blocks, the assumption that another driver is always a minute away, the idea that nobody knows anybody.
Northern Alberta doesn’t work that way, and we didn’t want to pretend it did. NorthBite is designed for smaller communities rather than major cities — starting with Fort Vermilion, High Level and La Crete.
In practice that means a shorter restaurant list than a city app, and we think that’s fine — it’s the restaurants that are actually here. It means drivers who live in the town they’re delivering in and know the roads in winter. And it means the businesses on NorthBite are the ones people already go to.
We’d rather do three towns properly than spread thin. If you run a restaurant in Mackenzie County, or want to drive with us, get in touch.
