NorthBite Inc. respects your privacy and is committed to protecting your personal information.
Information We Collect
We may collect:
- Name
- Email address
- Phone number
- Delivery address
- Payment information
- Device information
- Location data (see Location Information, below)
Location Information
Location is handled differently for customers and for delivery drivers.
Customers. With your permission, the NorthBite app uses your device location to suggest your delivery address and to show your order’s progress on a map. You may decline this permission and enter your address manually; the app remains fully usable. Customer location is collected only while you are using the app.
Delivery drivers — collection in the background. The NorthBite Driver app collects a driver’s precise location in the background, including when the app is not on screen. This is necessary for the service to function:
- The customer waiting for an order can see their driver’s position and estimated
arrival on a map.
- Deliveries can be offered to drivers near the restaurant.
Specific limits apply:
- Background collection happens **only while a driver is online or on an active
delivery**. It does not happen when the driver is offline.
- When a driver goes offline, the current location record is deleted. No location
history is retained.
- A driver’s live location is visible only to the customer whose order that driver is
delivering, and to NorthBite staff supporting that delivery.
- The app requests permission to use location “while using the app” first, and asks
for background (“always”) permission only when the driver chooses to go online, after an in-app screen explaining what is collected and why. A driver may decline.
- Motion and activity data from the device is used on the device only, to pause
location sampling when a vehicle is stationary and save battery. It is not transmitted to NorthBite.
Location permissions can be changed or revoked at any time in your device settings, and a driver can stop background collection at any time by going offline.
Children’s Privacy
The NorthBite Platform is intended for adults. Customers must be at least 18 years old, or the age of majority in their province, to create an account and place orders, because ordering requires a payment method. Delivery drivers must additionally hold a valid driver’s licence and be legally entitled to work.
NorthBite does not knowingly collect personal information from children. We do not direct the Platform to children, and we do not knowingly create accounts for them. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a child, we will delete that information and close any associated account. A parent or guardian who believes a child has provided us with personal information may contact the Privacy Officer at the address below and we will delete it.
How We Use Information
We use information to:
- Process orders
- Facilitate deliveries
- Provide customer support
- Improve our services
- Detect fraud and security risks
Sharing Information
We may share information with:
- Restaurant partners
- Delivery drivers
- Payment processors
- Legal authorities when required by law
Data Security
NorthBite implements reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information.
User Rights
Users may request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal information, subject to legal requirements.
Data Retention
Information is retained only as long as necessary for operational, legal, and regulatory purposes.
Cookies
NorthBite uses cookies and similar technologies to improve user experience and analyze website traffic.
Changes to This Policy
NorthBite may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Continued use of the Platform constitutes acceptance of revised terms.
